This was completed for the second Kiwiquilters Challenge. I won the award for "Best Looking Quilt using the least amount of Challenge Fabric". The challenge fabric was full of compasses and astrological signs so the design was definitely inspired by the fabric but I was surprised to find I was halfway through before I even cut into my fabric. The central sun, the Gemini twins in the eye and the binding are from the challenge fabric. The central compass is paper pieced and the snake uses the snippets technique.

All of the challenge quilts were displayed at Calico Christmas.

Ouroboros is the snake that swallowed it's own tail, it features in many cultures representing such things as the "circle of life". Fans may also remember that the name features in an episode of Red Dwarf.
