Cambio is complete...
... and it's complete and utter crap! It has a number of flaws that make it completely unwearable and far too awful to photograph.
- the hook and eye tape is too stiff to allow it to hang properly so it sticks out in a point between the breasts
- the ribbon around the neck edge somehow stops it draping so that it sticks away from the body when done up.
- I like the wide neckline but it seems to wide under the arms, if I pull the sleeves further up so that the armpits sit nicely then the neckline is too loose and almost wants gathering to sit on my shoulders. My tension swatched fine before I started and I blocked it as best I could.
- I love the actual pleated beading, that's fabulous but it needs to be attached to some other garment.
- overall I think it's too short - that's the design and I knew that but when it's on it's not flattering to my figure (or lack thereof).
At this stage I'm not sure what to do
- completely undo and use the beads for something else? - drastic
- undo to below the arms, lengthen (I have plenty of yarn left) and then try and reshape to be more fitting - not sure if I can manage that even though in theory it's just maths.
- Mum suggested removing the ribbon from the neck and just crocheting an edging, would be an improvement but possibly not enough.
- the hook and eye closure is obviously not going to work with the tape that's available. I suppose I could just leave it open and use a tie closure at the top.
Don't know, don't know! I guess I'll take it to show Mum on Thursday and see what she suggests when she sees it. Overall it's a bit disappointing given the expense and trouble all the beads caused in the first place.
