Shortest Day is Done!

The shortest day has been and gone, I'm a year older and today I'm home with a post birthday migraine! I don't think the champagne was entirely responsible, I'm overdue for a chiropractic visit and I think my "atlas" is probably out by the feel of it. So two doses of painkillers later and I no longer feel sick though I'm not pain free yet.

My birthday was a quiet one, as you'd expect on a Thursday. I dropped the child at One Day School and spent the day at my folks house as usual. I've decided I have to do something productive on Thursdays so I took a jacket I'd knitted last winter to sew up only to find the shoulders weren't the same! I undid the offending one but didn't have the pattern with me to reknit it correctly so I didn't achieve much anyway. Mum had made me a chocolate birthday cake for lunch so that was a nice surprise. They gave me a rotating cutting mat - something I'd never heard of but so handy for both quilting and scrapbooking - the mat rotates rather than having to move your work all the time.

Hubbie gave me a box of chocolates even though he's been forbidden to do such things and a blue tooth headset and car charger for my cell phone. Given that I hardly use
my phone I was a bit puzzled but apparently they were a clearance deal 80% off and he thought the car charger would be handy for emergencies. The real and best present of all ...

PSE5 - I haven't yet installed it but I can't wait to play. I've been assured by several people that it was worth the upgrade from version 3.
The child gave me a hug but I bought him new sneakers and slippers - SIZE 5!! - how did he get so big and will he never stop growing!

Dh brought home ice-cream for dessert - Kapiti Lemon Meringue - YUM YUM! It doesn't appear to be on their web-site but it has just the right lemony flavour and little pieces (not too many) of pie-crust dotted through to give it that proper lemon meringue pie taste. Absolutely divine - highly recommended.
