The Oracle Trilogy

Whilst I've been sick and computerless I've been reading in a big way. I've just completed The oracle trilogy: The Oracle, The Archon & The scarab by Catherine Fisher. It's supposedly childrens fantasy fiction with a story grounded in Egyptian religious mythology, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the first two books from my library and then put in a request for the library to order the third. I discovered librarians don't like being told they're wrong. She insisted that The Scarab was not connected to the other two and was the third in a different series, she wouldn't accept that the other series were the same books published under another name, turns out they were the US edition. The only helpful thing she told me was that another couple of libraries did possess a copy and conveniently my parents belonged to those libraries. A quick email and Dad picked it up for me the next day. Now to get this book off him entails a 40 min drive each way and it will be the same to return it. I think that gives you some idea of how desperate I was to finish the series. I probably could've bought the book for less than the petrol cost involved in borrowing it.

I'm working my way through another couple of series as I acquire the books, I'll talk about them as I finish them.
