The Great Fruitcake Toss

Apparently today is the day of the Great Fruitcake Toss in Colorado - the way to dispose of the annual Christmas fruit-cake. Though it seems things may have a progressed beyond merely chucking fruit-cake to serious competition.

Personally, I prefer to dispose of my fruit-cake by eating it and feel it has an ill-deserved reputation. I love a good fruit-cake. Every year I make one for Christmas, we still haven't cut this years but it usually keeps well for several months maturing as it goes. For everyday fruit cake there is nothing better than "Aunty Jean's fruitcake" which is a boiled cake that ends up slightly stodgy - delicious. I have no idea who Aunty Jean is though.
