Christmas Decorating Part 2
This is my very poor effort at photographing the "garden window" in the kitchen. Unfortunately during the day it's so sunny the camera doesn't cope and at night you end up with too many reflections in the window. It does really look quite pretty and sparkly in the sun.
The little Christmas tree is made of tulle/net and I made this for our first Christmas too! I copied it from an ancient one my grandmother had. It's just a piece of dowel attached to a wooden base. Then a whole lot of strips of gradually diminishing width of tulle are cut and gathered together with a rubber band over the pole. Then I glued sequins and bows over it and the cute little angel ornament is stuck on top with a bit of "blu-tac" so you can take it apart if it needs a wash from time to time. The ornament next to it is a little dog (I think) sitting like a human with a gift on his knee in his cute little tartan easy chair. He's the perfect size to sit next to the tree.
Here's the full effect of the garlands on the fire guard. This is the first time I've decorated it and I'm quite pleased with the result. This wall is opposite the dining table seen in the other photo. In theory we shouldn't have to light the fire as it's summer but given that we had hail and only 8C yesterday afternoon who knows.
