What a review!

A couple of weeks ago I posted about my trip to Waiheke Island with my musical "partners in crime". We requested a subscription to "Notes from the Garden", the monthly newsletter produced by Neil the multi-talented caretaker of Woodside House. I've just received the latest edition and our visit is talked about in glowing terms.

The senior members of the family are accomplished musicians, and with a group of fellow musicians, who came to stay to assist in the celebrations made beautiful sounds that danced and sang across the gardens, down through the amphitheatre, through the tress to enchant the gardener as he worked in his garden.

The classical recorder, in the hands of talented people, becomes an enchanted instrument, and a dedicated group playing both modern and medieval madrigals held the gardener spellbound for most of the two days. It is not too fanciful to say that the notes danced around the garden, which is blessed with extraordinary acoustics, one could feel the spirits being uplifted and carried off to somewhere warm and secure and the whole being was infused with such a sense of well being, there was almost a cry of anguish when finally the music ended.
