Nine!

Friday was the lad's ninth birthday! There have been many occasions when we didn't think he'd reach nine but he made it!
I think we "did good" this year, he seemed to have a great birthday celebration. He got up to presents and balloons on the dining table which put a smile on his face. We gave him a small lego car, a book of knots and a gemstone tumbler. He's been coveting one for months so he was thrilled. In fact he was so pleased that he didn't even mind going to school.
As a birthday treat we'd allowed him to order his lunch, apparently the best thing about it was the milk drink, school lunches don't rate highly. He took whistle pops to hand out to his classmates, he gave them out at the end of the day so of course they all had to whistle on them, causing one of the senior teachers to yell at them, I was looking for a rock to crawl under. LOL!
We came home and quickly iced his cake in preparation for family arriving for drinks and nibbles. Two sets of grandparents, an uncle and two cousins came to help celebrate, everyone seemed to have a good evening.
Saturday was the "party" with friends - he took five other kids to lasertag. They had a lot of fun but I am so glad I don't have six kids - I was constantly head counting, they are impossible to keep track of.
