Ladies who Lunch

I had my first Christmas lunch on Thursday. Unrecorded trio were invited to be the entertainment at the Papakura Ladies Club, however first we were their lunch guests. Now eating lunch immediately prior to playing wind instruments in never a good idea - both from a "nerves" point of view and for the efficient and effective use of the diaphragm. I had a very restrained plate of delicious roast -  I would love to have more. Then they produced Christmas pudding! We were allowed to fill our plates and save it for after the performance - it turned out to be delicious.

The performance went reasonably well and as our contact at the club pointed out "nobody fell asleep" which is apparently a common occurrence during their guest speakers. It was a fairly large audience of about 70 mainly retired women. There were two there who I used to sing with so it was nice to catch up with them. I think we gave them a different opinion of recorders - they're not just those small squeaky things that kids torment their parents with.
