Bright spots

Some days there are things that just make you smile, bright spots in your day.

Today I met a gentleman who in three weeks time will be 106 years old! He was amazing. He was a little deaf but as long as you spoke up he was fine to talk to. He walked with a stick but still quite quickly and confidently. He didn't look much older than his daughter that brought him in. It was wonderful to see.

As I drove home this afternoon I rounded a bend on a busy road through an industrial area. There crossing the road in front of me was a mother duck and about 10 tiny little ducklings. I slowed and managed to drive behind them, so did the vehicle behind me. Mother duck implacably continued on her way over the road. I felt sure her little family was doomed but as I looked in my rear vision mirror I saw this great big truck stop and let the ducks cross the road in front of it.  :-)

Proud parent moment - the child got a distinction in the Australian Mathematics Competition that was sprung upon him one day earlier in the term.
